The Yorkshire division of national homebuilder, Bellway Homes has been given top marks by a Wakefield primary school after a donation enabled it to purchase a host of high-quality books that the headteacher hopes will increase her pupils’ love of reading.

Stanley Grove Primary and Nursery School on Aberford Road is less than a mile from Bellway’s City Fields development and when sales manager, Jessica Hall found out about the school’s search for funds to purchase new books she was eager to help.

“We don’t just build new homes, we build communities so when a school that I’m sure will play a huge part in the lives of a lot of children who will grow up on our City Fields development asked for a donation for its book fund we didn’t hesitate to say yes,” said Jessica.

The books being purchased by the school with Bellway’s money are all aimed at linking in with topics that the children will be studying, as well as their various interests.

Headteacher, Joanne Frost, said: “Developing a love reading in our pupils is a priority in our school; having high-quality, age-appropriate books really increases the chances of this happening."

Bellway’s City Fields development is a key part of the 152-hectare urban extension of the same name to the east of Wakefield city centre, which when complete will provide approximately 2,500 new homes, as well as leisure, retail and commercial opportunities. The Bellway element comprises over 300 two, three, four and five bedroom homes.
