Composite Prime supports the regeneration of RHS Garden Harlow Carr

Ilkley-based Composite Prime has partnered with RHS Garden Harlow Carr to revolutionise the way school children learn about horticulture by donating composite decking to restore the teaching garden.
Aiming to inspire local children to expand their interests and develop a passion for gardening and the natural world, Composite Prime’s donation of more than £3,000 of its HD Deck® XS has supported the RHS in the restoration of the pond after it became unusable due to wet weather.
Unlike timber, HD Deck® XS is slip-resistant, barefoot-safe and won’t splinter or rot, retaining a clean finish that doesn’t deteriorate under high traffic and is guaranteed to remain safe for children. It’s also eco-friendly and made using 100% recycled plastic and FSC® certified oak wood flour.
Charles Taylor, sales director at Composite Prime, said: “It means a lot that we’ve been able to collaborate with RHS Garden Harlow Carr and donate some of our product to a project which will support children in the local area.
“RHS Garden Harlow Carr is central to the community, and contributing to the regeneration of the pond has enabled us to make a difference to its usability for the younger generation. Sustainability is also a huge part of our business model and partnering with the RHS has meant that we can show visitors how gardens can be environmentally friendly and socially responsible.”
Paul Cook, curator of RHS Harlow Carr, added: “We were delighted to find a local, environmentally aware firm which was able to provide us with a high-quality product to give a popular area of the gardens a much-needed facelift.
“We have over 13,000 school children visiting us each year and unfortunately, due to the wet weather, the teaching garden pond dipping platform had become unusable. The support from Composite Prime has allowed us to create a great-looking, safe area and we can’t wait to start welcoming back school groups to the garden to enjoy searching for pond life from the decking once more.”
