Musical icon Nile Rodgers, along with his band CHIC, will bring the ultimate summer party to the Yorkshire coast next year.

Announcing their third appearance at the UK’s largest open-air theatre, the legendary hitmakers will bring the Good Times to the iconic seaside venue when they headline TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Saturday August 22 with support from The Brand New Heavies.

Tickets go on sale via scarboroughopenairtheatre.com and ticketmaster.co.uk

It’s no secret that Nile Rodgers is one of the most influential figures in pop history – a multiple award-winning composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist whose unmistakable groove has shaped generations. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee and a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement winner, he is an unrivalled “hitmaker” and continues to set the gold standard for era-defining, feel-good anthems that transcend generations.

As co-founder of CHIC, Nile Rodgers changed the sound of music forever. From the unstoppable groove of Le Freak to the seismic impact of Good Times – the track that helped launch the hip-hop revolution; Nile and CHIC’s influence continue to ripple through generations of chart-toppers. Add in The CHIC Organisation’s classics for Sister Sledge (We Are Family) and Diana Ross (I’m Coming Out), alongside Nile’s iconic work with David Bowie and Madonna, and you have a catalogue that contains more hits than anyone could ever count.

Collectively, his music has sold more than 500 million albums worldwide – and Nile still remains at the forefront of culture, thanks to GRAMMY-winning collaborations with Daft Punk and Beyoncé, and more recently working with K-pop phenomenon LE SSERAFIM, Alfie Templeman and Purple Disco Machine to name a few – proving his groove is as fresh and vital as ever.

Now, Nile Rodgers & CHIC are bringing that legendary energy back to the Yorkshire Coast. Fresh from dazzling audiences around the world, they’ll return to Scarborough for their third appearance at the Open Air Theatre. With a setlist packed full of era-defining hits and irresistible grooves, the show promises to be one of next summer’s standout highlights – a night of music, joy and pure dance-floor magic.

Recently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit album Brother Sister, The Brand New Heavies were underground acid jazz favourites who shot to mainstream success with hits including Dream On Dreamer, Midnight At The Oasis, Back to Love and Spend Some Time.

They started out as bedroom jamming sessions between school friends Andrew Levy, Jan Kincaid and Simon Bartholomew, but the breakthrough album balanced sophisticated musicianship with insistent soul grooves, heightened by the gorgeous soul tones of vocalist N’Dea Davenport and the band’s shimmering live feel.

Nile Rodgers is a record 25th headline announcement for TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre 2026, joining the likes of Michael Buble, Bastille, Anastacia, CMAT, Scissor Sisters, Madness, Rick Astley, The Kooks, James Arthur, Richard Ashcroft and Teddy Swims among the artists heading to the Yorkshire coast.

Julian Murray, of Scarborough OAT promoters Cuffe and Taylor, said: “Nile Rodgers & CHIC always present the best party. These shows are filled with hit after hit and are sure to create a brilliant atmosphere.

“To welcome an artist back for their third show at a venue is testament to the success and huge popularity of them and we can’t wait to do this with Nile Rodgers next year.”
