Communications experts, Linda Harrison and Jo Leatham, have joined forces to stage a ‘Meet the Media’ speed networking event for up to 30 Yorkshire firms.

Taking place at the recently opened co-working space at the Bonding Warehouse in York on Wednesday 5th March, from 10am – 12pm, the event will provide local business owners with the unique opportunity to showcase their company to a selection of highly renowned regional journalists. Editors from the York Press, Yorkshire Post, Yorkshire Business Insider, Yorkshire Living and a freelance journalist who writes for national newspaper and magazines will be taking part in the speed networking.

The format for the event will involve the five journalists each being allocated a table where they will spend 15 minutes with up to six business owners / solopreneurs before the businesses are invited to move to the next table. This means attendees will get the chance to introduce themselves to all five journalists, share inspiring stories about how and why they launched their business, provide updates on the latest products and services and ask any questions about how best to hit the headlines.

In exchange, journalists will divulge some key tips about generating press coverage, outlining what stories grab their attention, the news their readers are interested in, how to make a business pitch/press release stand out, and how and when is best to contact them.

Linda Harrison, a former regional and national newspaper journalist who now specialises in helping female business owners in Yorkshire to get more visible through PR, said: “There are so many incredible business owners in Yorkshire who have amazing stories to tell but when we speak to them at networking events or as our PR clients, many admit they don’t understand fully how the media operates so this event will give some valuable insight.”

Jo Leatham, who has over 30-years’ experience in PR and specialises in helping businesses to tell their story, added: “We’re thrilled that so many leading regional journalists are supporting this event and giving their time to meet local companies. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the region’s business community to meet with the editors who work tirelessly to report on the latest news and developments across Yorkshire.”

Following the ‘Meeting the Media’ session, guests will be able to network with fellow business owners and have a tour of the new neighbourhood workspace in York’s historic building - the Bonding Warehouse. The community hub boasts design-led offices, meeting rooms as well as co-working and events space.

Spaces are limited to 30 attendees and are bookable on a first come first served basis. Tickets, which are £45 plus the Eventbrite fee per person, are available to purchase through Eventbrite here. For further details please email Linda: linda@lindaharrison.co.uk or Jo: pr@joleatham.co.uk
