Radcliffe Construction, the specialist construction project management firm, has been appointed as principal contractor for the rebuild and refurbishment of The 3 Acres gastro-pub in Huddersfield after the iconic venue was severely damaged by fire on Boxing Day 2023.

Radcliffe has commenced a comprehensive programme of works to the entire building, including a full kitchen rebuild with new roof, and is project managing a complex schedule of structural and refurbishment work over the next six months.

Paul Radcliffe, director said: “The 3 Acres is one of the most recognised and well-loved gastropubs in Yorkshire, and despite the unfortunate circumstances, we are pleased to be working alongside owners, Tom and Lauren, to restore the venue to its former glory.

“Since work began in August we have made excellent progress with the schedule, including the creation of new walls and a roof for the kitchen, which was completely destroyed in the fire.

“The level of fire damage was vast, meaning the scale of the work is equally large and requires the skills and experience of our specialist team to ensure the programme is delivered on time and on budget working alongside a network of skilled contractors.”

Radcliffe Construction Ltd, based in Lockwood, has been involved with the building of some of the area’s most established companies Nestlé, Firth Steels, David Brown Santasalo, Total Foodservice and Decorative Panels.

With a turnover of around £12 million, Radcliffe’s projects range from around £500k to £8 million and include small enabling works through to large contracts across commercial, industrial, retail, public buildings and residential properties.
