Milnsbridge, Huddersfield-based The Handmade Mattress Company has closed its doors after eight successful years of trading as a specialist infant mattress manufacturer.

Following a period of rapid expansion, in large thanks to the pandemic ‘baby boom’, the company has seen a decrease in orders which has resulted in the closure of the business.

More than 300 items from The Handmade Mattress Company are now currently up for sale by online auction, with the auction closing at 12pm on Thursday, August 24.

Asset advisory firm Walker Singleton, which is hosting the online auction, has invited bids on the company’s stock and operational equipment following the appointment of Wilson Field as joint administrators.

These include equipment for manufacturing, packaging, handling and storing mattresses and furniture, as well as two light commercial vehicles. All of the lots can be viewed here insert link.

The auction also comprises more than £200,000 worth of stock such as mattresses, divan bases, quilted mattress covers, drawer units, cots beds, high chairs, car seats, and parasols.

Interested parties are able to bid for products online now until the auction closes from 12pm on Thursday Augst 24. Viewings for the lots are by appointments only.

Walker Singleton associate director, Luke Hartshorn, commented: “The wide selection of equipment and stock available will appeal to a range of buyers, from furniture manufacturers through to wholesaler, traders and retailers.

“We would recommend anyone interested in taking part in the auction to view the lots and see for themselves the breadth and standard of items available.”
