Traveller, writer and adventurer Philippa shares her experiences

Philippa Kaye was born and raised in Yorkshire and completed her degree in London before heading to the mountains where she worked six ski seasons in Austria, France and Canada.
She spent several years working for luxury tour operators in London from where she discovered India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Philippa is a traveller, writer, adventurer and self-confessed Indophile. She has spent thirteen years living in and traveling extensively throughout India, writing about her experiences; periodically for Times of India and Travel Mint and regularly on her blog www.memsahibinindia.com. She has ridden priceless Marwari horses, been invited to royal weddings, been threatened by the local mafia, trekked mountains, rafted white-water, been wined and dined by maharajas, drunk chai in remote villages, slept out under the stars, driven vintage cars and got caught up in Holi celebrations and ended up with hair dyed a permanent shade of green!
What all of this has taught her, was that there is so much more to India (Sri Lanka and Nepal) than meets the eye and what is generally sold by travel agents. As a result, during her thirteen years in India, she set up Indian Experiences, a consultancy to the Indian Travel Trade, specialising in product training sessions, developing websites, content writing as well as developing marketing campaigns and social media strategies to help the industry promote what she calls, ‘The real India.’ She has consulted for Real Holidays, Bespoke India Travel, Selective Asia and Experience Travel Group among others.
She moved back to Yorkshire in 2019 and set up her own travel company www.iconicandoffbeattravel.com
During lockdown, she has published her first novel, Escape to India.
