Symphonic Ibiza has today announced a major new addition to its line-up, with Vernon Kay’s BBC Radio 2 Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour joining the event at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, on Saturday 15 August.

Already set to be one of Harrogate’s biggest summer nights, the event will now also feature a full live support show from Vernon Kay celebrating the very best of 90s dance classics in association with BBC Radio 2, giving audiences even more as part of a huge open-air evening in the Show Ring.

Best known as one of the UK’s most recognisable broadcasters, Vernon currently fronts the hugely popular weekday mid-morning show on BBC Radio 2 and of-course his Dance Sounds of the 90s show, with his live show quickly becoming one of the most talked-about nostalgia nights in the UK. Expect everything from massive singalong vocals and iconic club favourites
to big piano hooks, hands-in-the-air trance riffs and the biggest dance anthems from one of music’s greatest eras.

The addition means audiences will now experience two full-length standout shows in one evening, with Vernon Kay’s full live tour show helping launch the night before the main Symphonic Ibiza production takes over the Main Ring.

Vernon said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing BBC Radio 2’s Dance Sounds of the 90s Live Tour to Harrogate this summer. The 90s gave us some of the greatest dance records ever made and there’s nothing better than getting out in front of a big crowd to celebrate them properly. It’s going to be such a brilliant night and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

Freddy White, founder of Yorkshire-based company Sound & White and lead promoter of Symphonic Ibiza, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Vernon to Harrogate. To have a show of this calibre and profile joining the line-up is a huge moment for us and a fantastic boost for the event.

“It’s fantastic to be bringing the energy and recognition of a BBC Radio 2 brand into the Symphonic Ibiza arena. Vernon’s Dance Sounds of the 90s has such a strong identity and following, and it feels like a brilliant fit for what we are building at the Show Ring.

“Audiences are now getting Vernon Kay’s full live tour set as part of the evening before the main Symphonic Ibiza show begins, so it really does add another layer and make this an even bigger night out.”

Symphonic Ibiza is a landmark outdoor concert experience is coming to Harrogate this summer at the Great Yorkshire Showground for a one-night spectacular celebrating the most loved Ibiza anthems of the last three decades.

The event on Saturday 15 August will bring together the 40-piece Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra, one of the UK’s leading live dance music ensembles and a regular name at major outdoor concert events, for an evening celebrating the most iconic Ibiza anthems of the last three decades. Joined by special guests Heather Small, Rebecca Ferguson MBE and Alison Limerick,
Symphonic Ibiza will combine orchestra, live vocals and large-scale production in one of Yorkshire’s most striking outdoor settings. Tickets are limited to an 8,000 capacity to ensure an intimate large-scale experience, with the event running from 5:30pm to 10.30pm.

This will be the first outdoor music concert held at the Great Yorkshire Showground since Sir Elton John performed there in 2012. The event is a collaboration between Sound & White and The Great Yorkshire Events Centre,
the Showground’s commercial events venue and grounds. Profits from events held at the Showground go to the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, the charity which organises the Great Yorkshire Show and supports farming, food and the countryside throughout the year.

Graham Thompson, commercial director at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre, said: “The Main Ring is an incredible setting and we have been working with the producers of Symphonic Ibiza on this carefully curated and locally delivered event, which is an exciting new experience for us to host.

“The addition of Vernon Kay and his BBC Radio 2 live show only adds to what was already set to be a very special evening, and we’re looking forward to welcoming audiences to the Showground in August.”

Tickets for Symphonic Ibiza are on sale now from www.symphonicharrogate.co.uk and via
the Harrogate Theatre Box Office, by phone, in person or online

As part of the event’s community focus, alongside supporting the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a portion of ticket sales will also be donated to two local charitable organisations: The David Brown Foundation, a Harrogate and Yorkshire-based youth and education charity, and Harrogate Theatre Trust, supporting the continued delivery of arts and creative activity within the town.
