The search is on for four highly-skilled career professionals to take Rotherham’s historic house Wentworth Woodhouse to the next level in its new life.

Once one of England’s finest houses, the Grade I listed mansion set in 83 acres is now owned by a Preservation Trust. Its restoration is described as one of the most challenging and exciting heritage projects of our generation.

The latest recruitment drive aims to bring highly-experienced national-level talent to the team of 52 the Trust has built since taking over in 2017.

Three new roles are being created - Head of Hospitality, Digital Programmes Manager and Fundraising Manager. A new Events Manager is also being sought.

“The people we appoint are key to the sustainability of Wentworth Woodhouse,” said Trust CEO Sarah McLeod.

“Prior to COVID-19, the business was growing rapidly and will do again. It is an exciting time to play a significant part in transforming our business model over the next few years.”

Initial costs for all four appointments will be kickstarted by the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Cultural Recovery Fund.

A dynamic hospitality leader with experience of running multi-site operations is sought to drive the Trust’s food and beverage offer to the next level by way of additional indoor and outdoor catering areas, a permanent high-class afternoon tea offer, event and corporate dining, catered shepherd’s huts and the transformation of the derelict Camellia House in the gardens into a cafe and events space in 2022.

Digital is another key area of expansion. “We are jumping head first into the digital age and expanding the experiences we offer our visitors and our online presence. We are seeking an expert to help to drive this,” said Sarah McLeod.

The Trust’s finances will also be boosted by the arrival of a new events manager to expand the annual events programme, and an experienced fundraising manager. The fundraiser will be expected to bring in significant sums, build long-term relationships and be experienced in arts and culture sector bid-writing.
