The Broadway, Bradford has announced a new lease has been signed at the Centre with retailer Lids, creating six new jobs locally.

Located in the Petergate Mall, Lids is set to open in September. The 1,200sq ft store in The Broadway will be the brand’s twentieth store in the UK. Lids is an international sports retailer that sells fan and fashion-oriented headwear and apparel.

Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said: “Providing six new jobs for the region, this new lease marks a welcome addition to the wealth of brands and stores already found at The Broadway. We’re delighted to have attracted such a widely recognised and fashion forward brand as Lids.

“We have a number of new lease announcements in the pipeline and new retailers poised to open in the Centre before the end of the year. 2022 has been a really exciting year for The Broadway and Bradford as a whole, particularly as we start to see the benefits from the City of Culture 2025 win come to fruition. The city is attracting new business and investment, and we’re delighted that we can provide new and exciting stores for customers to enjoy as we continue to grow as a major retail and leisure destination.”

Lids offers a huge range of official sports hats and merchandise, including brands such as Nike, New Era, adidas and Mitchell & Ness. The brand is currently expanding rapidly with new store roll outs planned throughout Europe.

“Bradford is a young and vibrant city that is perfect for the twentieth UK Lids store,” said Britten Maughan, President of Lids. “We’re excited to bring a unique range of American sports and fashion products to The Broadway, including a huge assortment of branded hats and jerseys. We’re really looking forward to opening our doors at The Broadway and welcoming the local community.”

The interior fit out of the store has been created by European commercial interiors specialist, Agilité Solutions, Lids’ appointed partner on the roll-out of 27 stores across the continent. Kirsty Shearer, Development Director at Agilité Solutions, added: “Lids’ new Bradford store looks impressive, and is a great addition to the City of Culture 2025. Having worked with Lids on the fit-out of all locations in the UK over the past 12 months, we’re delighted to see The Broadway opening coming very soon – another great milestone for such an exciting brand, and one which is expanding rapidly across the continent.”

The Broadway Bradford has more than 80 retail stores and more than 20 eateries, plus a six-screen boutique cinema.
