Autumn Style

I love the change of seasons, especially Autumn. The colours are so inviting I want to wrap myself up in cosy outfits that mirror the scenery outside.

Whilst we can all agree it’s been a rollercoaster year and our wardrobes haven’t had much of a look in this year, I still get excited when I pack away all my Summer clothes and bring out last year’s favourites. Lock down has definitely reminded me that I don’t need half the clothes I thought I did so shopping hasn’t been a priority, but I will buy a few key pieces that I also know I’ll get use of at other times of the year.

Here are some of my favourite looks and tips for this season.

Don’t be afraid of colour!

It’s tempting to just wear neutral Autumn colours and whilst embracing the cosy feel this can bring, don’t be afraid of being bold with colour.

Colour blocking and wearing an entire outfit all in the same colour gives you a real lift and we all need a bit of boost when the blue skies start to disappear.Different shades can work so well and really give you a polished look.

Although the catwalks haven’t been seen in the same way this year, they were awash with colour for Autumn. Bold reds, paired with neutral accessories look amazing, shades of purple and lots of full on silver, which can be carried forward to the Christmas season. Silver outfits look fantastic on women with silver and white hair too, especially if worn with white, grey or black accessories.

It’s all about the jacket.

Faux leather jackets are everywhere this season and can really make a difference to an outfit without having to spend a fortune. I found this Purple jacket in the M&Co sale for £8 last week and I know I’ll wear it with so many outfits. We all love to layer up in Autumn and it’s a chance to add a bit of creativity into our outfit. Try mixing different lengths and textures. I love the sheer look of this dress with the biker style jacket. In Winter I’ll add some tights, chunky walking boots and throw a baggy jumper over the top for a different look.

Embrace some timeless style.

I’m a huge fan of vintage fashion and the retro style of eras gone by seem so full of effortless style and glamour. There are so many great brands out there that are recreating looks that we can all carry off in 2020. I think lots of people still associate retro fashion with fancy dress but it’s really not like that at all. It can definitely make you stand out in the crowd. I’ve treated myself to this Blue 1940’s influenced Collectif jumpsuit and it makes me feel like I should be wafting down the streets in Paris, a woman can dream!
