A unique concept hairdressing salon has been announced as a finalist in one of the industry’s most recognised prestige awards.

Julian Holland nestled in the treetops on the beautiful Hesslewood Hall Estate, in Hessle, is a finalist for Independent Salon/Business Newcomer of the Year, in HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2024.

The awards are considered the pinnacle business event representing hairdressing's entrepreneurs and success stories. These awards spotlight those who are making waves in the hairdressing industry and changing the game for everyone involved.

The award category, sponsored by Alfaparf Milano Professional, welcomes owners of recently launched independent salons operating for less than two years.

The salon which opened its doors in January 2023, clinched a spot in the finals with a standout entry showcasing how salon owners Julian and Sophie Holland turned their business aspirations into reality by establishing a thriving salon.

Reflecting on the nomination, Sophie says, "We’re both over the moon! The competition is fierce, so being named a finalist is a huge victory in itself.

“Starting our own salon has been a journey, pushing us to our limits in ways I never saw coming. We’ve grown leaps and bounds, both creatively and as business owners.

“Winning this award would be a pivotal moment, and I've got my fingers crossed!”

Now the team are gearing up to compete for top honours at the 25th British Hairdressing Business Awards, set to take place on Monday, 1st July 2024, at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards, said: "The awards celebrate the talented and passionate businesses and individuals who contribute to the greatness of British hairdressing.
“Once again, our judging panel faced an outstanding group of candidates. Being nominated in this category requires the finalist to showcase their ability to build an incredible business from the ground up, demonstrating their passion, unwavering commitment, and business strategies.

Hair@Hesslewood’s nomination speaks volumes about their entrepreneurial flair and dedication to success."

A total of 17 trophies will be awarded, recognising excellence in various categories such as best team, outstanding customer care, and sustainability. Since its inception in 1999, HJ's British Hairdressing Business Awards have been synonymous with industry excellence, honouring pioneers like TONI&GUY, Electric Hairdressing, Lions Barber Collective, Colin McAndrew, and Casey Coleman.

HJ's British Hairdressing Business Awards is not just an event; it's a testament to the dedication and passion driving the British hairdressing industry forward. And Hair@Hesslwood is leading the charge!
