Yorkshire Country Properties' starter homes prove a success

The roll-out of starter homes in West Yorkshire by Yorkshire Country Properties (YCP) is proving a resounding success.

Much-needed starter homes are an integral part of YCP’s new developments at Skelmanthorpe and Denby Dale, while they have sold out at Shepley and Netherthong.

YCP’s Sam McGregor explained: “We have been both proud and delighted by the success of our starter homes initiative. It is so important to help young people to get on to the property ladder and to experience the joy and the security of owning their first home.

“Whistle Bell Court, our brand-new development at Skelmanthorpe, near Huddersfield, is now taking shape and we are offering first-time buyers the chance to purchase one of our six one-bedroom starter homes called Valley Cottages. Prices start from £148,000.

“Three of the six have already been reserved and it’s easy to see why. Under the starter homes scheme, they are priced at 20 per cent less than their market value. Built from natural Yorkshire stone, Valley Cottages have tremendous kerb appeal, but that’s not all. Step inside and you’ll discover that our starter homes provide everything you need for modern living.

“As with all our homes, we have included some fabulous double-glazed French doors so you can extend your living space outside - and in a Valley Cottage, that means onto a rear patio/garden area - a perfect spot for some after work relaxation. Your own piece of heaven.”

YCP’s development at Denby Dale, which has just started on site, comprises eight starter homes which will be released soon. Sam expects huge interest in these, too.

She explained: “The starter homes scheme is an imaginative initiative by the Government to help first-time buyers purchase a home where the discounted price is less than £250,000. You must be between 23 and 40 years old and your combined gross household income must be below £80,000 a year.

“We design homes which allow you to live your best life - homes of a timeless quality to provide a positive work-life balance, which is so essential for today’s busy lifestyles. For us, property is a way of life, which is why we take so much care with each of our customers to ensure we build a lifelong relationship. Our starter homes are the beginning of this relationship.”

A starter home buyer at YCP’s sold-out development at Netherthong enthused: “I would like to say a massive thank you for everything YCP and your team have done for me. I found all the staff super supportive, answering all my questions quickly and with a full answer. I thought moving into a new area, not knowing people, would be a daunting task but you made the transition super easy.”
